5000 visits reached | 5000 visitas atingidas

Yesterday, this tiny blog on a topic so narrow and difficult to post regularly, passed the mark of 5000 visits. It is a very important milestone for me, which means that through this blog, people from 67 countries, of various languages, ethnicities and religions were interested in the lute, its history and stories, my path as a student, the sound of the instrument and perhaps by the revelation of watching a lute video for the first time. I also know people who bought their first lute music CD through this blog. Others began to attend recitals and concert halls, looking for their musical preferences within the early music the lute world, which is much broader than most people might think.

So I want to thank the visitors for their time and interest, for the kindness of contributing with their visits, comments and emails, to popularize and take out of oblivion this kind of music, so beautiful, so profound and so noble. God bless you all.

Ontem, este pequeno blog, sobre um tema tão restrito e difícil de postar regularmente, passou a marca das 5000 visitas. É um marco muito importante para mim, que significa que através deste blog, pessoas de 67 países, de várias línguas, etnias e religiões se interessaram pelo alaúde, pela sua história e histórias, pelo meu caminho como aluno, pelo som do instrumento e quiçá pela revelação de ver um vídeo de alaúde pela primeira vez. Também conheço quem tenha comprado o seu primeiro CD de música de alaúde através deste blog. Outros passaram a freqüentar recitais e salas de concerto, procurando as suas preferências musicais dentro do mundo da música antiga e do alaúde, que é bem mais vasto do que a maioria das pessoas poderia pensar.

Assim, quero agradecer aos visitantes pelo seu tempo e interesse, pela amabilidade de terem contribuído com as suas visitas, comentários e emails, para popularizar e tirar do esquecimento este tipo de música tão bela, tão profunda e tão nobre. Deus vos abençoe a todos.

New archlute ordered | Novo arquialaúde encomendado

Last week I ordered an archlute and I’m now on a short waiting list. I chose that instrument after pondering with time about the repertoire that I want to focus primarily on future years.
The option for an archlute is because of its flexibility, allowing me to continue playing Renaissance music, but at the same time allowing me to take lessons in Basso continuo without using the theorbo and adventure myself into the baroque repertoire, especially accompanying singers or musical groups. Maybe it even let me play some Late Baroque piece, like Falckenhagen, for example, depending on some different tuning.

What remains to be decided for the new instrument are details. Until now I thought of the model "Matteo Sellas" because it is smaller and easier to carry, with flattened back ribs, which according to some luthiers do not compromise the sound, quite the contrary. But anyway I would like to ask the reader’s opinions about which archlute are more interesting, sizes, sound and general characteristics. I would be much grateful for your comments.

Na semana passada encomendei um arquialaúde, e estou agora em uma pequena lista de espera. Escolhi esse instrumento depois de ponderar com tempo o sobre o repertório a que me quero dedicar primeiramente nos futuros anos.
A opção por um arquialaúde é devida à sua flexibilidade, permitindo-me continuar a tocar música do renascimento, mas ao mesmo tempo me permitindo ter aulas de Baixo Contínuo sem usar a teorba e me aventurar no repertório barroco, especialmente acompanhando canto ou grupos musicais. Talvez até dê para tocar alguma peça do barroco tardio, de Falckenhagen, por exemplo, dependendo de alguma afinação diferente.

O que falta ainda decidir para o novo instrumento são detalhes. Até agora pensei no modelo “Matteo Sellas”, por ser menor e fácil de transportar, com um tampo mais achatado, e que segundo alguns luthiers não compromete a capacidade do som, até pelo contrário. Mas de qualquer maneira gostaria de perguntar a opinião aos leitores sobre qual os modelos de arquialaúde mais interessantes, dimensões, som e características gerais. Ficaria muito grato pelos vossos comentários.
