Sadly, the spanish soprano Montserrat Figueras passed away today. Figueras was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, and began studying early singing techniques in 1966 and has developed an approach and technique for singing early music which combines historical fidelity with vitality.In 1974 she and Jordi Savall, her husband since 1968, Lorenzo Alpert and Hopkinson Smith formed Hespèrion XX, an early music ensemble. Figueras and her husband are today members of the new version of that ensemble, Hespèrion XXI. They have also founded the groups La Capella Reial de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations.

Infelizmente, a soprano espanhola Montserrat Figueras faleceu hoje. Figueras nasceu em Barcelona, na Catalunha, e começou a estudar técnicas de canto antigo em 1966. Desenvolveu uma interpretação e técnica para o canto antigo que combina a fidelidade histórica com vitalidade.
Em 1974, juntamente com Jordi Savall, seu marido desde 1968, Lorenzo Alpert e Hopkinson Smith, formaram o Hespèrion XX, um ensemble de Música Antiga. Figueras e o seu marido têm sido até hoje membros da nova versão desse ensemble, o Hespèrion XXI. Também fundaram os grupos "La Capella Reial de Catalunya" e "Le Concert des Nations".
